Loss-pattern review glossary
Use these terms to describe patterns in your own journal. Definitions depend on the fields and sample that were actually recorded.
- Loss cluster
- A group of losing records that share a chosen context, such as a setup label, session, or instrument. A cluster describes the sample; it does not prove a cause.
- Expectancy
- A historical sample summary combining outcomes and their frequencies. It is sensitive to the sample, fees, sizing, and data quality, and is not a forecast.
- Drawdown
- A decline from a previous account or sample high-water mark. Review its time period and calculation method before comparing it with another report.
- Risk-to-reward
- A planned or measured comparison between a defined risk distance and a potential or realized reward distance. It does not determine whether a trade is suitable.
- Process deviation
- A recorded difference between the plan and what happened, such as a late entry, changed size, or unplanned exit. It is a review note, not a diagnosis.
